Press Release- Andre Ursini at clos Clare for 2011 Gourmet Weekend


2009 MasterChef Australia finalist and owner of Andre’s Cucina and Polenta Bar, Andre Ursini, will be wining and dining at clos Clare winery in South Australia’s Clare Valley as thecelebrity chef during the renowned Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend on the 14th and 15th of May 2011.


Sam Barry, Proprietor of clos Clare said he is excited to have such a highly regarded food personality as a guest at the winery for the Gourmet Weekend.


“I met Andre through a mutual friend, Lucas Parsons, who appeared as a celebrity guest at clos Clare for last year’s Gourmet Weekend,” Sam said. “The cooking demonstrations that Lucas provided were very popular and he encouraged the crowd to ask questions and participate in discussion. After all the positive feedback we received I decided to invite another celebrity chef along for this year’s event”.


“As a foodie myself, I followed Andre on MasterChef and have eaten at his restaurant a number of times. His modern take on traditional Italian cuisine really impressed me and as he is also an Adelaide boy, the decision to invite him up to clos Clare was easy”.


Mr Ursini said he was delighted to be the celebrity guest at clos Clare winery.


“The Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend is one of the best events of its kind in the state. I am looking forward to tasting some great wines and enjoying the great Clare Valley hospitality”.


“I am also excited to be demonstrating to the public how great tasting Italian cuisine can be achieved at home is less than an hour,” he said.


On Saturday the 14th of May, Andre will provide two interactive masterclass sessions from 12:00pm-1:00pm and 2:00pm-3:00pm. Andre will use local produce and draw on his Italian heritage to create traditional, yet refined cuisine. These demonstrations will be free with an optional gold coin donation to the “Premiers Queensland Flood Appeal”.


clos Clare will be open Saturday and Sunday of the Gourmet Weekend, serving traditional wood oven pizzas with quality clos Clare Riesling, Grenache and Shiraz, along with tastings from Andre’s special serves.
